Gift Ideas with Health Benefits for less than $10.00

“I can’t believe it, I am part of this gift exchange with a $10.00 limit, what can you possibly get someone for $10.00?”
“You can always get candles.”
Although I was not part of the conversation (yes, I was eavesdropping), I decided to interject with my comments.
“There are plenty of things that you can get for less than $10.00 that are practical and can provide health benefits.”
They both looked at me waiting to hear more. I suggested that they consider a kitchen gadget.
- Egg separator – Years ago, someone had given me this during a gift exchange. I loved it. I use it to make my egg white omelet or scrambled egg white.
- Apple slicer – It is amazing how many apples you will eat when you have a slicer. Also, you will save money slicing your own apples than buying it pre-sliced. I have given it as a gift several times and people have been grateful.
- Avocado slicer – Avocados are good for you. They are high in potassium which will help with your blood pressure. They are high in fiber which will help with bowel movements. When I am rushing in the morning and have it for breakfast, it keeps me full for hours.
- Garlic peeler – Once you have used fresh garlic to cook, it is hard to go back to garlic powder. Garlic has health benefits. It has been shown to lower blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
- Lettuce knife with kale stripper – You use it to prevent your lettuce from turning brown. It is wonderful for removing the stems from fresh kale and collard greens. I do not think I need to list all the benefits of greens.
My family calls me ‘the gadget queen’. I tell them I just want to make my life easier in the kitchen and for less than $10.00, it is worth it.
If you do not want to spend any money, a gift of time is always a valuable gift. Check out previous blog on ‘gift of time’ ideas.
